I think we’ve all had that feeling that we were born on the wrong planet.

We feel that we are not only different but abnormal.

Our oddities are too odd.

Our unique qualities may have been more valued in another world, and perhaps we are just lost among humans.

The truth is we are different but that is just the disposition of all humanity. We are condemned to personal isolation in a world full of other isolated people. However, you can find confidence in knowing that there has never been, and never will be, another person like you. You can find sensations in dreaming that your individuality is other-worldly and that you, yourself, are the essential humanization of a world. You feel like you are from another planet because you are another planet. You live within your body and, therefore, within your own world.

Please find inspiration in this wonderfully simple quote, from French philosopher, writer, and activist, Simone de Beauvoir:

“Maybe you were made for another planet altogether and maybe you did mistake the way but, while you are here, you are the only person who thinks, feels, sees, hears, and tastes the way you do. Living on a planet where everybody understands and appreciates you would be comforting but living on a planet you don’t belong on?”

…How beautifully dangerous is that?
