Hey, Ladies: Stop Using The “Boyfriend” Card

By December 11, 2015 0

Going out to have fun with the girls can get ruined really fast if someone creepily asks you for your number.

When faced with this dilemma, many women pull out the “I-have-a-boyfriend” card, regardless of whether or not it’s true. Because by saying these magical words 4 words, women think the eager male will automatically disappear. This is 99.9% never the case.

Men like competition.

If a woman is hard to get, he will often times takes this as a challenge. Just look at Polar Bears. When the female is roaming about during mating season and there are other male escorts trying to charm her, they will have to fight until all the others give up. Some species of male birds, like the Eastern Meadowlark, charm the beautiful winged female with songs of love or show off how exotic their patterned wings are painted on each feather, like the Peacock.

Men are not animals, but competition to woo a female is still the natural challenge they face. But I’m going to let you in on a secret most women don’t know about: instead of using the boyfriend card and indirectly using a male figure to scare away your unwanted escort, use your voice. Politely tell him that you’re simply not interested.

I can attest to this. I have freed myself from unwelcome conversations with men I am not interested in. You can be honest with the person. Don’t use excuses to disparage him and his efforts to talk to you. In this case, he’s braver than you because he was able to confidently walk up to you and say what was on his mind (hopefully in a respectful manner).

Miscommunication is happening more often than not. If you stand your ground, he’ll get the picture.

But, if he keeps on pestering you with “c’mon baby” or “it will be a big mistake” taglines, you don’t have to say anything – just walk away.

The next time a guy approaches you, don’t use being in a relationship to end the conversation,  because pulling out the boyfriend card is just going to keep him coming back for more.

Because, as the cliché you’ve been fielding for your entire life has told you, honesty is the best policy.
